I suggest using supplies you have an zillions of, supplies you’ve had lying virtually forever and are trying to purge, or items left over from previous projects. I often requite some limitations regarding the number of items to segregate or perhaps a verisimilitude palette to stick to. I moreover remind students to manipulate and cut the items into smaller shapes and sizes.
